Ephemeral mists

Share

Ephemeral Mists is a new musical project by composer Brett Branning (also the composer for The synthetic dream foundation & Abandoned Toys). "Moon Ritual" is the debut cd, out now on Mythical records.

The sound of the project is best described as downtempo ambient new age music mixed with ethnic world musics in the vein of "Karma" era Delerium, Amethystium, and Dead Can Dance. Its really a an incredibly beautiful creation and I sincerely recommend it to anyone into newage music styles. I'm looking forward to further releases by this project.

Greetings and salutations! Dunno if anyone is still paying attention, but I had a question about that most maligned of R.E.M. songs, Shiny Happy People.

There is a persistent rumor floating around that this song is a reaction to a propaganda poster in Communist China after the Tiananmen Square massacre of 1989. Is this so, or was it some kind of April Fools Day gag that took on a life of its own? If the story is true, where is the poster?

Edit: xposted to thequestionclub here.

Abandoned Toys makes some of the most beautiful new age music that I have come across lately. If you like the genre, you should really look into their album, "The witch's garden".

Hi,

Hope all is going well. I just wanted to let everyone know about a recently launched website that may be of interest called Piano Lessons with Master Teachers. If you click the black and white photograph on the home page, it will take you to a collection interviews with concert pianists from the early 1900's, such as Paderewski and Ernest Schelling. It's a very good read, and it's all free material. I hope it can be a good resource for some of the community members.

Take care,
Eugene

Mostly a cover band, but they sound fun. :)

(To anyone not getting the reference, I'm talking about Scott Milstead, formerly of Carbon Leaf.)

Detroit Local Punk/Indie Band Seeks Bass Player

Punk/Indie band Chinese Happy is looking for a new bass player to fill Aaron Zdroik's shoes! Their songs are about things that are important but not everyone writes about today, like politics, feminism and human rights! They tour every summer for roughly two weeks at a time, have about ten interstate shows a month and often travel outside of MI for shows. CH has been together for four years now and hope to find jsut the right person to complete the set-up and take the band to a higher level!

please visit www.chinesehappy.com to learn more about the band
